The Formation and Origin of Travertine

Travertine, named after the many holes on its surface, is scientifically called travertine or tuff, and in English: Travertine, a type of marble. However, because its texture and appearance are very different from the traditional sense of marble, it is simply agreed to be classified as a unique category.

Ivory Travertine Design

Travertine is formed when limestone has undergone heavy accumulation for thousands of years, and the main environment where it is formed is at the bottom of the sea or at least the bottom of a large lake. Commercially valuable travertine requires a uniform texture with beautiful veins. These lines are formed in a weakly hydrodynamic environment such as the sea floor or the bottom of a large lake and are disturbed by the hot springs as they emerge, then they form curved lines.
